At Place Group, we are committed to the fight against climate change. To achieve climate neutrality, we must measure what we emit and then reduce those emissions. Even with our best efforts to reduce, daily activities and business operations will result in unavoidable emissions. This is why offsetting, only after measuring and reducing, is currently a key factor to reduce carbon emissions.
Last year, to certify all our efforts and commitments towards net zero, we joined the United Nations Climate Change Now (UNCCN) initiative, a platform that encourages and supports organisations to track and evidence their progress towards reaching their sustainability goals by 2050. We obtained a Silver in the ‘Contributing’ category and committed to continuing our efforts this year.
Climate neutrality is a three-step process, which requires individuals, companies, and governments to: measure their climate footprint, reduce their emissions as much as possible, and offset what they cannot reduce with UN certified emission reductions. As part of our efforts, we have:
We are delighted to share that the company, and critically Place Group people, have reduced our emissions by 20% from 2022 to 2023.
The United Nations has assessed our carbon footprint certificate, offsetting commitment, and updated report. It has recognised our achievements in 2023 and approved our continued participation in its Climate Neutral Now campaign.
We successfully reduced our combined footprint from 6 tCO2e in 2022 to 5 tCO2e in 2023 and we have funded the planting of 5 trees to offset our emissions.
We extend our gratitude to our team for their exceptional efforts in completing their carbon footprint assessments. Their dedication has allowed us to accurately confirm our carbon footprint and commit to offsetting our emissions.
Our targets and ambitions are continuously reviewed and amended to ensure that we are always doing the most we can to protect the environment.
We are in the process of exploring more third-party verifications, including ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) and becoming a B-Corp.
